King's clinched a state playoff berth and avenged last season's District 1 championship loss with a 3-0 win in the District 1 final over Meridian, Saturday, Nov. 1 at Oak Harbor High School.

Hillary Zevenbergen scored a goal and had an assist on Hillary Quinn's goal. Kendall Thoreson scored on a penalty kick and had an assist on Zevenbergen's goal. Carolyn Dapper got the shutout in goal for the Knights. King's plays either Seattle Academy or Seattle Christian at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at Woolsey Stadium for a No. 1 seed to state.

On Oct. 30, King's beat Lynden Christian 5-2 at King's to advance to the district title game. Zevenbergen scored two goals off assists by Thoreson and later assisted a goal by Thoreson. Christina McCormick and Ashley Roe also scored for King's. Maddy McDevitt played goal for the Knights. Kenzie DeBoer scored both goals for the Lyncs.

King's achieved school history Saturday, Oct. 25 earning their first Cascade Conference championship in just the program's third season.

The Knights (12-2 in league, 14-2 overall) defeated the reigning league champion Archbishop Murphy Wildcats 1-0 in a shootout.

Both the Knights and Wildcats (12-2, 13-2-1) finished with a 12-2 league record, but the Knights earned the title by virtue of a season sweep of the Wildcats.

Kelsey Christianson scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in the 4-3 shootout.

Madeline McDevitt earned the shutout for King's. Alexa Hughes was in goal for the Wildcats.

Class 1A King's finished fourth in state last season after debuting with a 10-6 season in 2006 and a third place finish at the state tournament.

Archbishop Murphy has finished in the top three in the past four 2A state tournaments. The Wildcats won the state title in 2006 and finished third in 2007.
