New Basketball Coach Hired

King's hires former Meadowdale girls basketball coach

Former Meadowdale coach Dan Taylor has been hired as the new girls basketball coach at King's High School in Shoreline.

Taylor had a 73-11 record in three seasons at Meadowdale. The Mavericks advanced to state all three years. In his final season in 2008, Meadowdale placed fifth at the Class 3A state girls tournament.

"We feel like he is not only an excellent basketball coach, he is a really good fit for King's Schools," King's assistant principal Jeff Geers said in an e-mail.

Taylor is a physical education teacher in the Edmonds School District. He splits his time at Edmonds-Woodway and Meadowdale high schools. Taylor also has been an advisor for ASB and Link Crew.

"He is a student of the game and we really like his blend of excellence, passion, humility and love for people," Geers said.

Taylor replaces Tressa Berg, who resigned earlier this year. Berg and husband Dan Berg, an assistant coach, stepped down to spend more time with their family.
