1A Boys: King's fends off La Center to advance to semifinals

YAKIMA — Dawson Porcello made three baskets from beyond the arc and scored 12 points as the defending champion King's fought off La Center for a 51-48 victory on Thursday night at the Yakima Valley SunDome.

King's had an advantage on the boards, grabbing 33 rebounds compared to 24 for La Center. The Knights also shot effectively from the foul line, sinking 13 of their 17 attempts. 

The Knights, the fourth seed, will play the winner of the game between top-seeded Freeman and No. 7 Warden in the semifinal round at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.

Hunter Ecklund scored 15 points, including three three-pointers, and grabbed five rebounds for the Wildcats.

Senior Jake Wise, who leads La Center with 20.6 points per game, got into foul trouble early on before eventually fouling out. Wise finished with 12 points and four rebounds. 

La Center will play the loser of the Freeman-Warden game at 12:15 p.m. on Friday in a consolation game.
